Back to the Dr. today....

Last night I was nursing Lily, she had just finished with her bath and I was rubbing her back and side. I noticed a "nodule." At first I thought that it was a lump in her sleeper. I peeled her out of the top part of her sleeper and for sure there was a nodule in a bluish color. (looked like a enlarged vein) So, I finished nursing her and took her in for a diaper change and proceeded to inspect her entire body. I felt another little nodule a little above and to the right of her button. First thing this morning we called the Dr and got her an appointment. They think that the one on her back/side is a Deep hemangioma. Right now it is the size of a dime. The Dr. said to expect it to get larger and then it should go away on it's own. We are going to watch it. The other could be a umbilical hernia. I have never noticed it before. So, we are going to watch that as well. Neither appear to give her any pain. She was 13lbs today. :D

She visits her Neurosurgeon next Monday. We have increased her to eating cereal 3 times a day now. This morning I gave her some (single grain baby) oatmeal. I'm not sure how she likes it. I do know that she was eyeing Ken and I eating our ice cream last night! LOL.... i told her next year this time and she can have a bite. :D

Hope everyone is having a blessed week!

Pediatrician Update

The pediatrician went well. She was 24.5 inches long (50th percentile) 12 lbs and 6oz's (25th percentile) and her head circum was 41.5 (same as when her Neurosurgeon did it a couple of weeks ago) They are pleased with her growth and she is right on with her growth chart. I spoke to them about solids. She was pleased on how I started her on rice cereal. She said that I am free to increase when I feel that she is ready. Move to oatmeal and veggies when I'm ready as well. I don't know why but it all seems to be happening so fast! I can't believe that she is 4 months old and we have the "ok" for food!

She did well with her vaccines.. she only cried for a couple of minutes but grumbled and complained a bit longer. They remarked on what a happy baby she is.... I just hope that she doesn't feel bad after she wakes from her nap.

Well... that is it for now. Until next time..................................

Early Intervention Evaluation

The case worker brought a Speech therapist and s Occupational therapist out today to assess Lily. The timing of their visit was perfect. She woke about 8:30 am. I dressed her and promptly fed her. We had just finished up when they arrived at 9am. She was well rested, full tummy and ready to play! They interacted with her for about 45 minutes. That was perfect as well b/c she started to tire and was ready for a nap. They were VERY pleased with her and assessed her in all areas being 4 months. Her actual age! She is currently showing NO delays. We are SO pleased!!! They were very impressed with her skills and said that right now she is very visual. They liked her social skills as well. She interacted with them and was a ease with them holding and playing with her. She did like to look at me and to hear me though. They are going to continue to track her each month but as of right now she doesn't need any services! Yeah.. Go LILY! They asked me about her schedule/routine and I was able to give them one. LOL For the last week she has been going to bed between 7 and 8pm. Ken wakes her about 10:30pm to feed her and then she sleeps until 5:30am. I feed her and then she goes right back to sleep until about 8 or 8:30. So, We have that part down... LOL This morning during her morning nap I was watching her in the video monitor. She was awake but playing quietly... she rolled onto her left side to play with the elephant ears on her crib bumper. She should be rolling very soon! Thank you God... Ken and I are so grateful for so many blessings in our lives! I will post later on how the pediatrician visit goes.

Been awhile.....

Well, we haven't had much to report. Things are going well. Lily is finally getting on a routine. OK, let me rephrase that.. Daddy and I are getting with the program and have created a routine for her. hehehe.. She is 4 months old today! I can't even believe it. She goes to the pediatrician tomorrow for her 4 month check and shots. :( I hate shots. She also has her early intervention evaluation tomorrow morning as well. I am pretty sure that she is on target for her milestones but do not want to take a chance and miss anything. She is chatting it up a lot more and this past Saturday I started her on rice cereal. Ken and I had noticed that she would totally watch us eat. So, one afternoon when Ken had finished eating I had him go and get her spoon and an empty bowl. I put the spoon up to her mouth and she opened it. She then looked at me like I was crazy b/c nothing was on the spoon. LOL So, I decided that we would try a tiny bit of rice cereal after her late afternoon feed. She probably is eating less than a teaspoon. :) Ever since, she has been pretty much sleeping through the night. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I hope the poor thing wasn't starving. I'm going to speak to the pediatrician tomorrow on how we should proceed from here. :) I do not want to over do it or under do it for that matter. :) I will post again tomorrow with all of her new info, weight and etc and will let you all know what the PT/OT evaluation reveals. She is not scheduled to see the Neurosurgeon until the first week of May. Here is a small video of her first bite. :) God is so amazing!

Happy Easter!!!

Here is a photo of my beautiful daughters with the Easter Bunny! :)

I think that I spoke way tooo soon about Lily's latest "milestone." She has not slept through the night again. LOL I think that it was a one time deal. She has actually regressed back since then....waking for middle of the night feeds *sigh*...... She is also trying to put her entire fist inside her mouth, drooling up a storm, and NOT napping very well. She has also become the Queen of the 45 minute nap. I am NOT complaining... I am SO GRATEFUL for her but, I have not been able to get very much accomplished. It has to be her teeth. She will be 4 months old on the 22nd. During her 4 month check up I am going to ask about suggestions to help her sleep through the night and etc.

Well... that nap lasted 15 minutes................

Stop the presses........!

Lily slept through the night! 8pm to 6:30am!!!!! Ken and I did NOT sleep through the night b/c we were up checking on her! lol....

I don't know if this will be the "norm" but, at least she has finally made it to this milestone! I need to look into getting a "woolie" or something.... with that amount of sleep NO diaper could hold up! I have seen patterns to make your own... I would like to give it a try.

Yesterday, I called and made her an appointment with early intervention for an evaluation. I think that she is on track but I want to be sure.

Neurosurgeon Update......

I took Lily for a ultrasound and follow up visit this morning with her Neurosurgeon. They ultrasound looked about the same as the last one 5 weeks ago. Cyst is not there but her ventricles are still very large. He wants to see her back in 4 weeks for another ultrasound and office visit.

This morning I asked him if the cyst could reform now that it was completely gone. He said that he can "never" say that it won't reform. He said that it could develop again when she is 5 years old. He went on to say that the longer she goes with out it the better the chance that it won't reform. UGH.... He measured her head today and it came in at 41.5. He said that it is still larger than "normal" but completely expected b/c of the hydrocephalus.
He said once again that he now wishes that he would not have left the cath in and hates the fact that she will have to have another surgery to remove it. He said overall he is pleased. :)

Cloth diapering is going well and isn't as hard as I thought that it was going to be. :) Lily has been sleeping in her Crib in her room for almost a week now! I "think" that she is almost sleeping through the night! Last night Ken got up with her about midnight and she only ate an ounce or two. She woke up about 3:30 am with hiccups. LOL I know b/c she was yelling about them when I checked on her. LOL I let her know that I was there and tried to make her "comfy" and went back to bed. She did not wake again until 6am! She is still getting breastmilk exclusively. I intend to nurse/pump right up to when she is a year old.

Well, she should be getting up anytime to eat. I am also trying to sort through the clothes that have been given to us. I thought by now she'd be wearing 3-6 months BUT.. she is still comfy in her 0-3 months. :)
